We collect as little as possible. Here’s what that actually means.
What we collect
- Aggregate page views. We use a privacy-friendly analytics tool that doesn’t set tracking cookies and doesn’t identify you personally. We see country-level traffic and which pages get visited. That’s it.
- No accounts. No email signups. No user profiles. There’s nothing to log into.
What we don’t do
- No Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no Twitter pixel, no remarketing tags.
- No third-party advertising. We don’t run ads at all.
- No cross-site tracking, no behavioral profiling, no fingerprinting.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie for site preferences, like remembering which hostels you’re comparing on a given page. It expires when you close your browser. Nothing else gets stored.
When you click through to a booking site (Hostelworld, Booking.com, Kayak, etc.), they set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. That’s outside our control.
Affiliate disclosure
Some booking links earn us a small commission if you book. It never affects rankings, never adds cost to you, and we’ll never insert affiliate links that don’t go to a verified competitive price.
If we ever start running display ads or accept paid placements, we’ll change the structure of the site visibly, labeled “Sponsored”, separate from rankings, and update this page.
Data requests
If you think we have data on you, email us, we’ll check and delete on request. We almost certainly don’t.
